Taking Barna's Survey as Gospel?
March 16, 2008
A new Barna Survey is out, which examines changes in worldview among Christians over the past 13 years. The results indicate that the percentage of adults with a biblical worldview has remained unchanged for more than a decade. It may be measuring no more than Barna's worldview, rather than a biblical worldview, according to this blog by Jay Gary.
Let's Stop the Slaughter of Innocents
Jan 3, 2009
Hamas rockets land in Israel and Israeli bombs obliterate the civilians of Gaza. As we enter 2009, and witness such atrocities, Jay Gary ask where are wise men of our age? This must stop, unless we wish to repeat the Slaughter of the Innocents.
What is the Future of the Religious Right?
Nov 2, 2008
Is this the beginning of the end for the Religious Right in America? Has the tide gone out on the Reagan revolution? Jay Gary reflects on a CNN panel and mulls over three scenarios for the Christian right, 2008-2012.
Palin's Pentecostalism & Lipstick on Pigs
Sept 10, 2008
What does Palin's Pentecostal background tell us about being a Christian futurist? NPR just interviewed Dr. Margaret Poloma on how practices such as words of knowledge, prophetic ministry, or expectations of Holy Spirit outpouring may have influenced Palin's worldview. What is lacking from this discussion is
any framework on how we talk about the future. Jay Gary weighs in on what is missing...
Is McCain's VP Choice Post-Denominational?
Aug 31, 2008
When news broke that McCain had chosen a woman, Sarah Palin, an unknown Governor from Alaska, I scrambled to understand her relationship to Christianity. After eight years of a unpopular Evangelical in the White House, would Palin be a sign of that the Religious Right has a future? John Allen, Jr., an NCR senior correspondent, weights in on the subject, while I weigh the temperament that should guide the future leaders of the free world.
Christian Leadership in Palestine?
Nov 15, 2007
President Bush is trying to relaunch the roadmap to peace in the Middle East. For over 25 years I have worked in the area of developing global Christian leadership. Of all the leaders I have met on my travels, Rev. Dr. Naim Ateek has impacted me the most. His focus on nonviolence to settle the Israeli-Palestinian crisis emerges from his personal life in the Gospel of Jesus. Raised in Nazareth, he now lives in Jersalem, speaking truth to power, and demonstrating peace. Catch this feature on his leadership style, provoked by recent criticism that he is anti-Semitic. Then ask yourself, what would Jesus do as a Palestinian Christian leader to create the future? --Jay Gary
Out of the Corner of God's Eye
Nov 5, 2007
Are you ashamed of Christian leaders who act up, and operate from egocentric levels? Shouldn't we in leadership development distinguish between spiritual states and psychological stages? Jay Gary blogs on the future of spirituality, postmodernism, integral theory and Ken Wilber's writings.
Do You Hear Voices in Your Head?
April 16, 2007
It is not normal to hear voices in your head, at least in my culture. Yet many of my friends claim to. Recently I took a journey into the 'prophetic.' Now as a futurist, it has left me with more questions, than answers.
